An 8x10 black & white photograph of Richard Todd (1919-2009), signed with a black pen, adding 'all the best'. He is probably best remembered for his role as Guy Gibson in The Dam Busters. Todd trained for a potential military career at Sandhurst, but decided to become an actor, then when war broke out he had to interrupt his acting career to serve in the army. On 6 June 1944, as a captain, he participated in the British Airborne assault against Pegasus Bridge near Caen. He later met up with Major John Howard on Pegasus Bridge and helped repel several German counter attacks. As an actor, Todd would later play Howard in the 1962 film The Longest Day.
