A vintage 5½ x 3½ white card, boldly signed in person by Joan Sims (1930 - 2001), the English actress best remembered for her many roles in the Carry On films. Her characters evolved from objects of desire in the early films to frumpy, nagging wives in the later ones, epitomised by the Emily Bung role in Carry on Screaming. She stayed with the films all the way though to the last of the original series, Carry On Emmannuelle, appearing in 24 in all. On television, she is known for playing Gran in Till Death Us Do Part (1967–1975), Madge Kettlewell in Sykes (1972–1978), Mrs Wembley, the cook with a liking for sherry, in On the Up (1990–1992), and Madge Hardcastle in As Time Goes By (1994–1998).
