A vintage green page from an autograph album signed with a fountain pen on November 25th 1947 by Loretta Young (1913 - 2000), the American actress who, starting as a child star, had a long and varied career in film from 1917 to 1953. At the height of her popularity she made up to eight movies a year, and won the 1948 Best Actress Academy Award for her role in the 1947 film The Farmer's Daughter;  that same year she co-starred with Cary Grant and David Niven in The Bishop's Wife (1947), a perennial favourite, and in 1949 she received another Oscar nomination for Come to the Stable. She also starred in films such as Born to Be Bad (1934), Call of the Wild (1935), The Crusades (1935), Eternally Yours (1939), The Stranger (1946) and Key to the City (1950). In the 1950s Young moved to the relatively new medium of television, where The Loretta Young Show ran from 1953 to 1961.
