A page from an autograph album signed in person June 23rd 1960 by Alexander Gauge (1914 - 1960), the British actor. It was obtained at the Theatre Royal, Brighton, just a couple of months before his death from an overdose, at age 46. Gauge is best known for playing Friar Tuck in The Adventures of Robin Hood from 1955 to 1959. His film credits include The Interrupted Journey (1949), Murder in the Cathedral (1952), Mother Riley Meets the Vampire (1952), with Old Mother Riley and Béla Lugosi, The Pickwick Papers (1952), Martin Luther (1953), Beau Brummell (1954), The Green Man (1956) and The Iron Petticoat (1956), starring Bob Hope. On television he also had roles in the series The Scarlet Pimpernel (as George, the Prince Regent) and The Adventures of Brigadier Wellington-Bull (as Brigadier Wellington-Bull) alongside Valerie Singleton.
