A 5x3 page from an autograph album, signed in person September 16th 1978 in London by Victor Maddern (1928 - 1993), the English actor. From 1950 to the early 1990s, Maddern appeared in countless films and TV series, often portraying military types, usually cast as sergeants or corporals, as well as privates, seaman or airmen, played either straight or comically. Movie credits include Malta Story (1953), The Sea Shall Not Have Them (1954), Carrington V.C. (1954), The Cockleshell Heroes (1955), Private's Progress (1956), A Hill in Korea (1956), Dunkirk (1958), I Was Monty's Double (1958) and Petticoat Pirates (1961). He often appeared in comedies too, including roles in five Carry On films; Constable (1960), Regardless (1961), Spying (1964), Cleo (1964) and Emmannuelle (1978). Maddern had roles in dozens of TV programmes, including The Adventures of Robin Hood, Perry Mason, Bonanza, The Avengers, The Saint, Dixon of Dock Green, Doctor Who, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), The Dick Emery Show, You're Only Young Twice and The Darling Buds of May (1992). He was killed by a brain tumour in 1993, aged 65.
