A 5 x 3 card signed September 19th 1996 by Bruce Dern, the American actor, father of actress Laura Dern, who was Oscar-nominated for Coming Home (1978) and Nebraska (2013). Among Dern's early film roles was a part in They Shoot Horses, Don't They? in 1969, the same year he co-starred with James Garner and Walter Brennan in Support Your Local Sheriff! as gunfighter Joe Danby. In 1972 he was the enemy and killer of John Wayne's character in The Cowboys, and his next role of Freeman Lowell, the caretaker of Earth's last forests in the dark sci-fi film Silent Running is probably his best known. In 1976 he appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's final film Family Plot, playing the boyfriend of a medium played by Barbara Harris. He also starred with Jack Nicholson in The King of Marvin Gardens. Other memorable roles include Tom Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, and a psychotic Goodyear Blimp pilot who launches a terrorist attack at the Super Bowl in 1977's Black Sunday. Other movie credits include The Laughing Policeman (1973), Posse (1975), The Driver (1978), Tattoo (1981), That Championship Season (1982), The 'Burbs (1989), Last Man Standing (1996), Monster (2003), Down in the Valley (2005), Chappaquiddick (2017) and Emperor (2020). On television he played Frank Harlow in the HBO series Big Love (2006–2011).
