A white postcard signed by Constance Cummings (1910 -2005), the American-born actress whose career spanned over fifty years. She debuted on Broadway at the age of 18, as a chorus girl in Treasure Girl (1928)., and while appearing on Broadway she was discovered by Samuel Goldwyn, who brought her to Hollywood in 1931. Between 1931 and 1934, Cummings appeared in more than 20 films, including Movie Crazy opposite Harold Lloyd, and American Madness, directed by Frank Capra. She married to the English playwright and screenwriter Benn Levy in 1933, and moved to England where she continued acting in films and on the stage. Her movie credits include Busman's Holiday (1940), This England (1941), The Foreman Went To France (1942), Blithe Spirit (1945), John and Julie (1955), The Battle Of The Sexes (1960) and In The Cool Of The Day (1963).
