Dench has received many award nominations for her acting in theatre, film and television; her awards include ten BAFTAs, seven Laurence Olivier Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Golden Globes, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award. She received critical acclaim for her work on television, in the series A Fine Romance (1981–1984) and As Time Goes By (1992–2005), in both of which she had starring roles. Her film appearances had been infrequent until she was cast as 'M' in GoldenEye (1995), a role she continued to play in James Bond films until her final appearance in Spectre (2015).
